Today we’re releasing a new beer – our Spilt Milk stout. As we head into fall and cooler weather starts to arrive we begin to crave darker beers, and this milk stout is just the ticket. Milk stout, sometimes called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, so it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. In the early 1900s milk stouts were considered nutritious and recommended to expecting and nursing mothers. Our take on this classic style has big roasted barley flavor on the front end and balanced sweetness on the backend. 5.6% ABV, 35 SRM, 25 IBUs. Come try a pint!

From the brewhouse:
Rumor has it head brewer and owner Matty did a firkin of the Spilt Milk stout with raspberries and white chocolate!!! We’ll be cracking into that in a few weeks on our first of many Firkin Fridays. You won’t want to miss it so keep an eye out here or on Facebook for the date.
In the fermenters – Red Stapler red IPA is almost ready so should be going on tap soon. The double batch of Publican English-style pub ale is being kegged we’ll be sending it out for distribution so keep an eye out for it around town. Matty brewed another batch of the Liquid Lunch pale ale this week so never fear, it should be back on tap in a few weeks.
Next up – brewing Midnight Ryed Black Rye IPA, which just kicked in the taproom, another batch of Keep Calm and Saison French farmhouse ale, and a double batch of Drone honey rye IPA. Matty’s also getting prepped for some fall seasonals such as our Who’s Ya’ Crandaddy Cranberry Wheat. Stay tuned for more details!
To friends, to beer, Two Blokes.
